The FRIENDS of Prince Gallitzin State Park is under the umbrella of the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation (PPFF), a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
"Winter Blast" - at Main Marina - Saturday, February 12, 2022, 10:00AM to 2:00PM
Join us at the Prince Gallitzin Marina for some fun winter activities! Go sledding, try cross country skiing or snowshoeing, do some ice skating, or play Winter BINGO. You can also learn about animal furs, winter birds and bird feeding, outdoor winter safety, ice fishing, and more. Or just cozy up by the bonfire. Equipment for all activities will be provided on a first come first serve basis, but you may wish to bring your own sled. Hot dogs and drinks will be provided by the FRIENDS of Prince Gallitzin. There is no charge for this event, but donations will be accepted by the FRIENDS for upcoming park improvement projects.
Scheduled activities will depend upon existing outdoor conditions. A complete list of activities will be posted on the park Facebook page (www.facebook.com/PrinceGallitzinDCNR/). Here are the activities we plan to offer:

"Trunk of Treats" - Halloween Weekend - at Crooked Run Campground - October 7 & 8, 2022 - (Note - This event is limited to those staying in the Campground)

"Easter Egg Hunt" - at Muskrat Beach #2 - Saturday, April 16, 2022, 1:00PM
- Hop on over to the park for our annual Spring Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by The FRIENDS of Prince Gallitzin State Park. Children ages 12 and under are welcome to participate, and will be divided into appropriate age categories for the hunt. Age groups are 0 to 3, 4 to 7, and 8 to 12. Tickets will be handed out to all participants for a prize drawing after the hunt.
- Don’t forget to have your picture taken with the Easter Bunny while you’re there! The hunt begins promptly at 1:00 PM at Muskrat Beach 2.
- Grab some lunch before the hunt: hot food and drinks will be offered for sale at the pavilion, as well as FRIENDS of Prince Gallitzin State Park shirts, hats, and other items.
- No registration is necessary for this fun, free event.

"Memorial Day - Red, White, & Blue Weekend" - at Crooked Run Campground - Saturday, May 28, 2022
- Join us for a Red, White, & Blue theme weekend in the Crooked Run Campground on Memorial Day Weekend! Decorate your campsites with red, white, & blue patriotic decorations.
- 10:00 AM - Join us for a Memorial Service to honor our veterans at the Amphitheater. We will have a 21 Gun Salute and the playing of Taps followed by a speaker.
- 1:00 PM - Children's Decorated Bicycle Parade. Decorate your bicycles, wagons, or anything that rolls in red, white, & blue patriotic decorations.
- Join us for a FREE Outdoor Concert Series at Muskrat Beach 2. The Friends of Prince Gallitzin State Park will be holding a fundraiser at the event selling food & drinks such as hot dogs, meatballs, nachos & cheese, popcorn, desserts, etc. A free pontoon shuttle will be at the Campground Boat Rental dock to shuttle campers back & forth to Muskrat Beach area. This will be a family-friendly & pet-friendly event.
"Hawaiian Day on the Beach" - at Crooked Run Campground Beach Area - June 18, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
- Come have some fun at the Crooked Run Campground Beach - Hawaiian-style. We'll have games for children of all ages. Don't forget your Hawaiian shirt!
"Music @ Muskrat Beach Area #2" - "Randy Clark" - June 25, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

- Decorate your campsite at Crooked Run Campground in Red, White, & Blue to celebrate our Nation's birthday. Decorate your child's bicycle in patriotic theme for the bike parade.
- Saturday 11:00 AM - Children's Decorated Bicycle Parade assembles at 10:45 AM at the dump station near the Campground Store. Parade starts promptly at 11:00 AM and ends at the Amphitheater.
- Door Prizes awarded after the parade at the Amphitheater for adult campers.

"Christmas in August Weekend" - at Crooked Run Campground - August 13, 2022
- Decorate your campsite in Christmas decorations.
- Saturday 5:00 PM - Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at the campground and drive through the loops. Afterwards (approximately 45 minutes later) Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at the Amphitheater to hand out candy to the kids.
- Saturday, approx. 5:45 PM - Door prizes will be given at the Amphitheater to adult campers.
"Camper Appreciation" - at Crooked Run Campground - September 3, 2022 at 1:00 PM
- Door prizes will be awarded at the Amphitheater to adult campers in appreciation for their camping support of the park.
"Apple Cider Festival" - Muskrat Beach #2 - October 2, 2022, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Craft Sellers and Food Vendors email the main park office at princegallitzinsp@pa.gov or call 814-674-1000 to reserve your spot.
- Freshly made apple cider is available for sale
- Over 100 Crafters setup to provide quality products for sale
- Food vendors provide great food
- Hay rides through the park
- Live Entertainment on the stage
- Petting zoo
- Chain saw carving
- Environmental and Recreational Safety educational booths
"Trunk of Treats" - Halloween Weekend - at Crooked Run Campground - October 7 & 8, 2022 - (Note - This event is limited to those staying in the Campground)
- Decorate your campsites with Halloween & Autumn decorations.
- Friday - 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM - Hayrides will be provided through the campground starting at 6:00 PM. Hayrides will load and unload at the Campground Store parking lot. $1.00 donation per rider.
- Saturday - 2:40 PM - Costume Parade lineup starts at 2:40 PM at the parade banners which will be located at the inlet end of Maple Loop (near RV dump stations by the Campground Store) and assembles down the hill reverse to normal traffic flow. There will be two banners, one for a short parade route for ages 7 & under and one for a longer route ages 8 & over. Each age group will lineup behind the appropriate banner.
- Saturday - 3:00 PM - Costume Parade will start at inlet to Maple Loop promptly at 3:00 PM and will follow two routes depending on age group. The short route will proceed down the Main Road and then flow up the end of Red Oak to the Amphitheater. The long route will proceed down the Main Road to the entrance of Spruce, and then return up through the end of Red Oak to the Amphitheater where the FRIENDS Group will hand out treats to children. Click HERE for a map of the parade routes. NOTICE: All traffic will be stopped on the Main Road and other parade routes during the parade.
- Saturday - 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM - Hayrides will be provided through the campground starting at 6:00 PM. Hayrides will load and unload at the Campground Store parking lot. $1.00 donation per rider.
- Campers may hand out candy at their campsites after the parade is over if they wish. Please refrain from handing out treats during the parade as this slows down the event.
- Please use caution this weekend and observe campground speed limits for the safety of everyone.
